being "Mrs. Lofthouse, Black Lake, Manchester", and "Miss
Lofthouse, Hoarwithy, Hereford". They have been written to
by the Superintendent of the Government Civil Hospital.

In order that Mr. Lofthouse may
not become a permanent charge on the Colony, I have
directed the Harbour Master to arrange that a passage to
England should be obtained for him, and, when this is
obtained, I will inform Your Lordship of the name of the
steamer by which he will travel.

As Mr. Lofthouse is unfit to
travel alone it is advisable that his relatives should
meet him on arrival. They have been written to but since
the addresses appear somewhat vague, I shall be glad if
they can be traced and informed of the name of the ship by
which Mr. Lofthouse arrives as soon as I am able to com-
-municate it to Your Lordship.
